This beautiful house is 100 years old and was once owned by a wealthy family from the area. It is in excellent structural condition but does need a certain amount of reformation to bring it back to the standard of the past.
This noble house is full of character and is on two floors, each approximately 310 m2, with very high ceilings, some of them intricately carved in wood, many of the rooms have open fireplaces and most of them have lots of built-in cupboards.
The front door opens into a hall 5m x 3m and double gates go into a large hallway, 12m x 3m. Off this hall are three large bedrooms with windows looking out to the street and a further bedroom which connects to the bathroom and has a window looking out to the Andalusian patio.
The dining room and sitting room are both 8m x 4m with open fireplaces and typical large Andalusian style windows. There is also a utility room and large kitchen with pantry, and window looking out to the patio. Large marble columns separate the two areas of hallway and at the end of the hall double doors go out to the courtyard and there is a large storage cupboard under the stairs.
Marble stairs with typical Andalusian tiling wind their way up to the first floor where there is a 4m x 4m hall with chimney and open fireplace, large bedroom with windows and balcony overlooking the street, two further bedrooms with windows and balcony overlooking the courtyard and a fourth bedroom with window looking over the stairs.
In addition there is a dining room with window looking out to the gallery, office with large hanging wall tapestry, kitchen with pantry and window looking down to the courtyard, music room, store room and large bathroom, 6m x 5m, with bath, wash hand basin, WC and doors to a bedroom, further room with stained glass window and ornate, carved wooden ceiling.
There is also a portion of the house which has very old kitchen, pantry and bathroom and there are stairs down to the courtyard. This was previously the servants area and needs completely renovating.
The house is in a U shape around the 40 m2 Andalusian patio and has a fountain in the centre and behind is a smaller patio. The large roof terrace has stunning views to the castle and the house has marble floors and beautiful tiles.
Belmez was a mining town many years ago and in the area are remnants of coal mines and in the town a museum to the mining community. The town has all facilities and the beautiful city of Cordoba is just 70 kms away. The town is in the region of Los Pedroches which is very beautiful and has many small, quaint villages that appear to still be living in the 20th century.
