In many of the country house lodges where you can do agro tourism you can actually stay with the owner and the family, while in others you can enjoy the peace and quiet of a house all to yourselves.

You can learn all about farming, look after the horses, walk the alpacas, and look after a vegetable garden, harvest almonds, olives or fruit. Make wine or cider. Learn how to look for wild mushrooms, go off the beaten track with the help from locals, make food, jam, cheese, honey etc, learn how to paint, experiment with ceramics and pottery, enjoy the wine harvest or peach festival.

The various provinces of Andalusia have different pastime and actives to enjoy. Moorish castles, winding country roads with spectacular views, inland accommodation could be in a rural guesthouse, country hotel, or a renovated mill or farmhouse in the tranquil countryside.

Set amidst Andalusia's beautiful rolling sun-soaked countryside, with fields of olive, almond, lemon and orange trees we have a beautiful finca which offers throughout the year a special micro-climate.

The property is a true paradise with tropical trees, herbs, fruit trees, fruit and vegetables, waterfall and lake in the valley. There is a main house, guest house, buildings to convert & stables, all this in more than four hectares of land.

In the picturesque hilltop village of Sierra de Segura in the north-east of Jaen province is Los Huertos de Segura. Situated right underneath the Arab Castle Los Huertos is registered as Apartamentos Turisticos Rurales.

The rental accommodation is comprised of four studios and two apartments and the owners magnificent apartment from where there are the most spectacular views over the valleys and mountains.

Las Herrerias de Rio Madera is a 1600 acre working estate set in the Natural Park of the Sierras of Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas in Jaen province. Through a careful management programme, the estate ensures the protection of its wonderful natural environment, which is home to a great variety of indigenous wildlife.

There are two houses currently on the estate. The original estate farmhouse is 100 years old and has been completely restored in traditional style and is currently being run as a self-catering rental business, is registered by the Andalusian Ministry of Tourism.

The Casa de los Cazadores is located in a quiet corner of the estate with a mature garden. This house has just been renovated and it comprises an extremely large living area, divided into several separate zones.

The Hostal Mari Pepa is a large Andalusian manor in perfect condition restored in traditional style and converted into a charming, pretty, comfortable hostal.

This charming hostal has 9 pretty bedrooms, some with en-suite bathrooms, dining room, kitchen and patio. There is also a small apartment and roof terrace.

Situated in the town of Constantina is the Natural Park Sierra Norte, less than 50 minutes north of the capital, Seville.

Templars Hotel is a historical hacienda dating back to the 16th century when it once belonged to the Templar Knights and is now converted into a beautiful country hotel.

The hotel still preserves the old charm of the traditional haciendas with its uncluttered architecture and the typical baroque style of Seville. There are 18 spacious and comfortable suites, each different from the other and exquisitely furnished and decorated with antique furniture, some rooms have four-poster beds. The hotel is set in 8 hectares of grounds with formal garden and swimming pool.

Finca Los Tejoneras is a large hunting farm on an elevated position in the Sierra Morena, Cordoba province overlooking the lake towards the castle of Almodovar del Rio.

The finca is 322 hectares and has the most stunning lake views in many directions and borders the lake where it would be possible to build a boat dock. The finca is made up of meadows, dense mountains, oak trees in profusion, orchard where there are oranges and olives and monte bajo.

There is a large cortijo in very good condition and throughout the finca there are four semi-ruins & ruins to reform/rebuild.

 Rural Tourism Properties
Property owners who rent out property must have a licence.

If your property is situated in the ‘Medio Rural’ i.e. in a natural zone – forest, farmland, river, or countryside, then you should register as a Vivienda Turística Alojamiento Rural.

If your property is situated on the coast, or within a village or town housing more than 20,000 inhabitants you should apply as a ‘Vivienda con Fines Turísticos’.

We recommend you check with your local town hall to confirm this.

You must apply for a licence and will need to present a Declaracion de Responsable confirming that your property meets the requirements of the law with regards to the service offered, its classification and the commitment to maintain it that way as long as you continue to rent it out.

Also that you will, if required, need to present the accredited documentation to the relevant authorities. The relevant Tourism Consejeria should send a copy of the resolution to the relevant Town Hall where the property is registered.

No more than 3 separate units can be rented out with maximum of 20 beds, more than that is classed as hotel or an apartment complex.

Documents to accompany the application are I.B.I showing catastral reference, copy of passport of owner and period of the year the property will be available for lets.

All rural tourism property must display a sign outside next to the entrance identifying the initials corresponding with the type of lodging and if applicable those that identify the category or specialisation. In a visible place inside and in all publicity you must display the registration number and date you became registered.
